How do I finish the tournament — and what can block it?
When the last score goes in, the top of the tournament turns into the Finish tournament button — one tap, one confirmation, and the podium appears. If one pair has locked up the title before the end, the gold banner offers Finish now without playing out the rest.
In 30 seconds
- With everything entered, the tournament’s tag flips to Ready and the Finish tournament card appears at the top — no button buried in a menu.
- If the math has already decided it, the gold banner “🏆 Ana & Bruno is already the champion!” lets you finish early; the remaining matches become optional.
- After finishing, results are locked and the tournament moves to History with a podium and a shareable summary.
The two ways to finish

The normal way — every match entered
The green-and-gold Finish tournament card takes over the “Next match” spot at the top, with the note “All matches completed”. Tap it, confirm with Finish — “The tournament moves to history and the podium becomes available.” — and you’re done.

The early way — mathematical champion (Fixed Pairs only)
On every saved score, the app checks whether some pair has become uncatchable even if it loses every match still left. When that happens, the gold Mathematical champion banner appears with “🏆 Ana & Bruno is already the champion!” and how many matches remain, already marked optional. The Finish now button asks for confirmation: “pending matches will be marked as not played. The tournament moves to history with the current ranking.” It’s the difference between wrapping up at 6 pm and staying until 7:30 playing matches that decide nothing.
In Americano this calculation doesn’t exist in the current version — there you finish once the last score goes in. The Tournament › Ranking tab also shows, in Fixed Pairs, the Out of the title race card with the pairs that can no longer reach the top.

After finishing
The finished-tournament screen opens: 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the podium, the full ranking with medals, every result match by match, and the Share summary button at the end — the text with the link to the final page goes straight to the group chat, no screenshot. The tournament stays saved in the History tab and can be reopened months later.
What goes wrong here
- “Empate manual pendente nas posições 2, 3 — resolva antes de finalizar.” (Manual tiebreak pending in positions 2, 3 — resolve it before finishing.) — the most important lock in the app. Two or more pairs finished identical on every criterion, and not even head-to-head (the matches played only between them) separated them. The app refuses to build a podium with a tie in the top 3 — it never invents a champion. And here’s the honest part: the app currently has no screen to resolve this tie. If the message shows up, the workaround is to enter the matches still missing — the tie usually breaks itself — or to arrange a tiebreak match on court between the tied pairs and record the result. A manual tiebreak tool is on our fix list, and it’s written here because we’d rather you know beforehand.
- “There are still pending matches.” — you tried the normal finish with scores missing. Enter what’s left or wait for the mathematical-champion banner.
- “The champion is not yet mathematically decided.” — early finishing only exists once the title is guaranteed by the numbers.
- After finishing, tapping a match shows “Tournament finished — results locked”. Finishing can’t be undone — double-check the scores first.
Why it works this way
The podium is the official result — it’s what goes to the group chat, to History, and to the public page. That’s why the app prefers locking up over guessing: if a top-3 tie wasn’t settled on court, it won’t raffle positions or sort by alphabet. For the same reason results stay locked afterward: a result that’s already been shared can’t shift under anyone’s feet. And early finishing only shows up when it’s mathematics, not a hunch — the app projects the maximum points each pair can still reach, and the unplayed matches are recorded exactly as that, because the ranking only counts matches that happened. In Americano the tie lock never fires: its tiebreaks end in criteria that can never tie.
