How do I register the players and venues I'll use all the time?

Short answer

Players and venues live in a little notebook that carries across tournaments: register once, use in every new tournament. Players under Settings › Collections › Players, venues under Settings › Collections › Locations — or, faster still, by importing from iPhone Contacts while you're building the teams.

In 30 seconds

  • A player only needs a name. The phone number is optional — but it's what makes the WhatsApp invite work.
  • The fastest path is in Step 3 of the tournament: FROM CONTACTS — Select from iPhone. The app grabs the right mobile number on its own.
  • Venues are registered beforehand, under Settings › Collections › Locations — in Step 1 of the tournament you just pick from the list.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Register a player

Settings › Collections › Players › +. Only the Name is required — the Save button stays gray without it. The phone field says on screen what it's for: “Optional. Used to notify the player by WhatsApp.”

  2. 2

    The phone number, done right

The field has a country picker with flag and dial code — 33 countries, with Brazil and the United States at the top of the list. Brazilian and US numbers get a mask as you type (“(11) 99999-9999”). Under the hood, the app stores everything in international format (+55…), and that's what makes the WhatsApp link open correctly in any country. The country comes pre-selected from your iPhone's region.

  3. 3

    Import from iPhone Contacts

While building the teams: Create tournament › Step 3 › tap an empty spot › FROM CONTACTS — Select from iPhone. The app pulls the name and prefers the number labeled mobile or iPhone. If you already imported that contact in a previous tournament, it recognizes and reuses the same player — no duplicates.

And if there's already an “Ana” in the tournament and you import an “Ana Maria Silva”, the new one comes in as “Ana M.” on its own, so nobody gets mixed up on the schedule.

  4. 4

    Register a venue

Settings › Collections › Locations › +. Only the Name is required; City, State, Address and Notes are free-form. Below there's a map: “Tap the map to mark the spot.” On a new venue, the map opens centered on where you are.

  5. 5

    Reuse in every tournament

In Step 1, the Location field draws from this list. In Step 3, your players appear in the MY PLAYERS section of the picker sheet. The player list also shows the “in 3 tournaments” tag on anyone who has already played with you.

What goes wrong here

  • A player who's on a team can't be deleted — the sideways swipe doesn't even show the Remove option. It's deliberate: deleting would break tournaments that already exist.
  • “2 tournaments use “Arena Praia da Costa”. Those tournaments will lose their location reference but keep working.” — a venue in use can indeed be deleted, but the app tells you what happens first.
  • “‘Ana’ já está em outra dupla deste torneio.” (“Ana” is already on another team in this tournament.) — you imported someone from Contacts who's already on the roster. Pick someone else for that spot.
  • Save button gray — the name is missing. It's the only required field, for players and venues alike.

Why it works this way

The notebook and the tournament are separate things. The tournament stores only a reference to the player and the venue — that's why deleting a venue in use breaks nothing (the tournament just loses the place name), while deleting a rostered player would break teams and scores, so the app locks it. And the phone number becomes international format at registration time because the WhatsApp link demands the country code: without it, the invite to a number abroad simply doesn't open.
