How do I notify the players?

Short answer

In Step 5, right after you create the tournament. The app builds a ready-made message for each player — date, location, fee, their pair — and opens it in WhatsApp or the Messages app; you just check it and hit send.

In 30 seconds

  • Every player with a phone number gets a Notify button. NOTIFY ALL REMAINING works the queue one at a time — with a pause between sends, you in control.
  • The flag at the top picks the message language (Portuguese, English, Spanish, or Italian). It covers invites and the flyer, and it doesn’t change the app’s language.
  • The flyer lives under PROMOTE TOURNAMENT — Share flyer with date and location: a ready-to-post image for the group chat or your story.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Choose the message language

The flag selector sits at the top of Step 5 on purpose: it governs everything that leaves this screen — invites and the flyer caption. A Brazilian coach in Florida invites his American student in English by switching the flag between one send and the next. The default is saved under Settings › Tournament defaults › Message language.

  2. 2

    Notify one player

Tap Notify on their row. The message comes pre-built: tournament name, date, location, entry fee, payment contact, the “Your pair:” line, and the format summary. You pick the channel under Settings › Tournament defaults › Send invites via: WhatsApp, Messages (SMS) or Automatic — which tries WhatsApp and, if it’s not installed, falls back to the Messages app on its own.

  3. 3

    Notify everyone at once

Tap NOTIFY ALL REMAINING. The app opens WhatsApp for the first player; when you come back, the batch pauses and shows the “2 of 7 opened in WhatsApp” banner, with the Stop and Send to Bruno buttons. Nothing moves without your tap — you can answer someone mid-batch or stop whenever you want.

  4. 4

    Promote with the flyer

Tap PROMOTE TOURNAMENT — Share flyer with date and location. The app renders a high-resolution image with the name, date, location, tournament size, win rule, fee and payment contact — plus a text caption in the chosen language — and opens the iPhone share sheet.

What goes wrong here

  • A player without a phone number shows up in a separate card (“2 players without phone”) and gets no invite. The card itself points the way: “Add a phone number under Settings › Players”.
  • The “Sent” badge is only real confirmation in the Messages app — there it waits for the message to actually go out. In WhatsApp, “Sent” means WhatsApp opened with the message ready: if you backed out in there, the app never finds out.
  • In Americano, the invite’s “Your pair:” line only covers the first round — partners rotate every round. Give people a heads-up so nobody’s confused on court.
  • The date on the flyer always comes out in Portuguese, even with the flag set to another language. The text caption follows the chosen language; the image doesn’t yet.
  • “This device can’t send messages.” — the device can’t open the Messages composer (happens on an iPad without a SIM, for example). Use the WhatsApp channel.

Why it works this way

The app never sends anything on its own: every invite goes out from your WhatsApp or Messages, from your number, and you’re the one who hits send. That’s why the batch pauses between one player and the next — it used to chain one send straight into another and you couldn’t even land on the Stop button in time. And that’s why WhatsApp’s “Sent” is just a note to yourself: WhatsApp doesn’t tell the app what happened in there; the Messages app does.
